The Striper were tearing it up Friday New Year's Eve.
Shad were getting run up in our slew and the striper were almost beaching themselves trying to get at them.
I threw a Hopkins spoon, and my father threw a white fluke, but neither of us even got a bite. I switched to a white or cream color grub with a chartruese tail and plain lead jig head, pretty small. I then caught one 12lb. Stripe off of my dock!!!
My father had gotten on the water at the peak time, just when the sun was coming up. He caught two Stripe both with Hopkins Spoons. One was almost 16lb. the other was around 10lb.
Our neighbor across the slew was crappie fishin' when the Striper started tearing it up next to his dock. He threw into the mix with his Little George and caught an 18lb. Stripe his first cast.
This is the first time in a few years anything like this has happened in our slew, I am guessing it has something to do the water level. Normally it is alot lower this time of year. Either way, it was an awesome way to end 2004.
P.S. Didn't catch a thing the rest of the weekend.
