From Mcfarland Park in Florence........head downriver a couple of miles and you will find a LONG rockpile (used to be a canal) on the south side of the river. You can fish inside or outside the rock row, but it is too shallow to cross in most places. There is yet a second smaller rock row between the bank and the big rock row down on the lower end. If you go upriver toward the dam you can fish the tailrace, but you may want to follow another boat if you go past the end of Jackson Island. The area just to the right of the island and just below the turbines is full of shallow huge rocks that will destroy a boat. On the south side there is a big rockpile that is visible a bove the waterline. If you are going after smallies I would go downriver to the point of seven mile island and anchor down just above and to the right of the ilsand. Look for the ripples and anchor above them. There are stumps below the ripples. Also there are some good rocks near the gas line that crosses the river on the north side just down from Mcfarland Park. Also try the bluffs just below Oneal bridge across from the park. Good luck....
