I am not sure if I should call my day crappie fishing, though that would have been the dream theme. We put in at Honeycomb and fished several boat houses with ultralight tackle such as various jigs including bass assassin from 2-4 p.m. (bad hours!?!?) Fished them under a cork and freeline and had no bites. Little "shooting" due to wind. Also threw a white spinnerbait and something called a GamoShad (birthday present) and had no bass takers around grass and boathouses. Fished around Goat Island. Wind was tough, and managed only a small spot on curly tail Bass Assassin. Had several bites and brief hookups near the drop-off on east side of Goat Island, but never saw what was biting.
Cold wind and aggravation pushed us into a wind protect pocket on back of Goat Island. Milfoil looked good, and had a few swirls, but only on ultralight stuff.
Water temp ranged from high 69 to 72's.
