Flint is much lower than the last time I was out there in the boat, but still not as low as before the recent rains. The water is also much clearer than my last trip with 1-2 foot visibility as opposed to 2-5 inches when the water was up and muddy. Although I didn't have a thermometer, I guess-timate the water temp to be in the upper 30's to lower 40's. Current today was fair, but not overly strong.
Put out at hwy 31 near Hartselle mountain about 8 or 8:30am. Fished from the ramp on hwy31 to about halfway down to hwy 67. Managed to catch 6 (5 decent keepers) crappie, but it was very slow! Met up with an old friend while out there today. He was the only other boat I saw. He managed to catch 1 nice crappie.
Since this area is what I consider to be "upper-middle" Flint creek, maybe the majority of the crappie have moved downstream nearer the main river channel during these very cold conditions. If the wind stays down, I may try to work the lower end of the creek soon.
Good luck and Merry Christmas!
