From now till freezing weather, buzz baits and spinner baits around the edges of the grass, especially if you can find broke grass. Rats are good on top of the heavy grass, especially around deeper water and when there is current or wind to push the baitfish up in the matted grass. Pan fish can be caught under most bridges and around boat docks on small jigs or using minnows and crickets. The most fun will be starting in February. Start in 10 feet of water, throwing lipless or small crank baits, find the fish and follow them for the next 2 months. The Goosepond area at Scottsboro is as good as you will find. Good luck.
