I have a boathouse towards the backend of Polecat Creek on Guntersville. In the last 2 weeks there's been a rapid spread of a type of submerged grass, the likes of which I've never seen on this lake. I'm well familiar with milfoil, hydrilla and coontail, and this stuff is different. The best way to describe it is that when you're looking down on it, it looks something like the top of a pine tree. Between my lot and my neighbors, its spread to about 150' of shoreline. Of note, the water is usually alittle dingier back here and there's never been any milfoil, therefore, no spraying. Right now the weeds aren't really a problem, and of course are clearing the water some and pulling in some bait fish where it usually is just a 2 ft deep mudflat. Any idea what this grass is and who needs to be notified about it? For all I know the next time I go down there it may surround my boathouse.
