we caught bait in the elk river, mostly yellowtails in the 5-7" range; as far as a pattern, there was none. The fish bit around the boils, at the coffer dam, in the eddies behind the towers, on freelines, on the bottom, and at mid depths (5-7')...Usually this time of year, if you have a short period of water discharge it will concentrate the fish, and they will be found on current breaks (USUALLY). This year has been a mystery for me for every species of fish I target. I think my fishing buddy put a hex on me; he claimed to have taken it off yesterday, but he was catching bluegill and shellcrackers 3 to my 1 (and I found the bed for him).
