Up until the last few weeks, I doubt anyone had been fishing the tailraces too terribly much. Like Shad Lips said, I believe it is safe to bet the farm that for the next several weeks, the striper bite will be VERY STRONG. With no rain in the forecast, your worst enemy at this point is TVA. I love to get there just before they start generating, because a feeding frenzy usually ensues once the water starts churning. However, they have been firing up the generators during the middle of the night lately.
Make sure you check the TVA schedule before you go. No water = no fish. And if you are not familiar with baits, go to local tackle stores and ask. For Guntersville Dam, check out Cooley's Grocery on the south side. You can always call Tony @ 256-753-1013 and ask him about the bite.
