I use jigs but minnows should work also. In Decatur I have been finding a few in deep (10-16 feet) and shallow waters (2-6 feet). In the deep water I am not using a cork with the jig and I let it go all the way to the bottom then SLOWLY work it back to the bank in a lift and fall motion similiar to working a plastic worm for bass. In the shallow water I work the jig under a cork from 2-3 feet deep. I use 2 methods of working it here. One is to simply reel it in VERY slowly. The other is to "jig" it by sharply twitching it from 3"-12" and let it fall/drop. The fall/drop is the important part as this is when the crappie will hit it. I sometimes let it sit still for a second or two after the drop because they sometimes take their time hitting.
I hope this helps!
