That's a good question. I live in Mobile now, but I grew up in the Shoals Area. Cedar Creek, Little Bear and Big Bear have all been good lakes for me, but I prefer Little Bear. I like to fish with tuffy minnows along the limestone shelves in the creeks near the marina, especially this time of year. Set your float to 2-3 feet deep in the 6-8 foot depths. There is a nice inlet nearby, just take a right out of the launch area along the shoreline until you see the rock outcroppings. I find that being quiet makes a difference too. They seem acclimated to a quiet environment and noise slows down the bite. A trip during the week produces better for me than a Saturday when the big engines turn the lake into a froth. These are beautiful lakes where it is not uncommon to see a big turkey gobbler or whitetail deer if you ease around quietly. Have a good time and enjoy the beauty.
