My catch-all super secret setup on wilson and pickwick is a 8lb spinning rod; 1/8- 1/4 oz pinch on lead about a foot above the line and a #2 eagle claw baitholder hook (buy boxes of at least 100 of ea)and hook a shad or minow through the lips and drift below the tailrace areas bumping bottom. A cast net is essential to fishing the tailraces with shad.
Not making fun it is really that simple if you can get the bait. Plan on hanging up alot so even if you dont catch fish you can get plenty of knot tying practice.
That will get you to catching fish behind the dams. Also go and watch what others do and never give up an oportunity to fish with somebody.
