If you are talking about below Guntersville dam,yes there are more Smallies there than people think but they are hard to locate or maybe no one targets them specifically.My dad has one mounted he caught off the bank a few years back of 6lbs.There are a few who know when the best time is and most use live Crawley Bottom Suckers and fish the end of the rip rap at the boat launch on the Arab side.One of the biggest problems in locating them is the number of spotted bass that are in the river there ,they tend to get in the way !!HA Back in October one of those select few who knows when and where had an awesome catch that they brought into Cooley's grocery,which is the store right as you turn to go to the dam on the Arab side of the river.So I in answer to your question,they are there maybe not in quantity but sure are in quality it seems.
