Here is a link to an article written by a State of Alabama fisheries supervisor: http://home.hiwaay.net/~ksgrisse/wwwboard/messages/1938.html. Also, click the link to 'Articles', link is on the NAFF home page; you can run a Google search for 'crappie fishing' and there is at least one site dedicated just to crappie expertise.
I also have a number of links to other articles and information about Weiss and North Alabama that I have collected. If you will email me directly and say it's okay to email these to you(it would be an attachment to the email), I'll be glad to do that.
Best water temps seem to be 60 to 65, based on the experience and records of a number of fishermen. Lures, techniques and such are as varied as the fishermen. Look at the post from 2/4/04 from baddog - that's the kind of thing you've got to try to find the fish. Anyway, I'll send a bunch of info your way that you can sift through, if you don't mind a small-sized attachment. Good luck!!
