I've poured my own jigs and spinnerbaits for years, and I've learned a few tricks. I prefer the Owner hooks in my jigs. (No, I'm not sponsored by Owner, but they work). I definatly prefer the round bend as opposed to any of the fancy "wide gap" or other bends. If you are using the bullet head mold for the bigger grass jigs, you need to straighten the bend in the hook a little for the mold to accept the hooks. I take a propane torch and heat the bend red hot, then straighten it slightly with pliers. Owner hooks and other carbon hard hooks will break if you try to bend them too much without heat. If you want a better skirt collar on the jig head, take a small drill and drill a small shallow hole on each side of the mold in the collar cavity. Good luck.
