I got out around 7am and tried under the causeway bridge on Hwy31 north of Decatur. Nothing at all. Left there after about 30-45 minutes and tried the pumps at the end of the causeway and managed to catch 2 small keepers. They seemed to be the only ones there so I decided to try the bridges over Flint creek on Hwy 67 east of Decatur. Caught 8 small ones of which 2 might have been keepers. Also caught 2 rockbass or maybe they were warmouth, 2 tiny smallmouth and a couple of small stripe. I released all of the fish I caught today.
I was using a 16th oz red jig head with chartreuse/glitter Bass Assassin grub anywhere from 2-4 feet deep under a tiny cork. All fish came out of water no deeper than 4-6 feet deep. So there are *some* crappie moving into the shallow water, but nothing to get excited about yet. Colder weather and/or rain should get them started again.
