On a tip from a local tackle store in Huntsville, I fished the Plymouth Rock area on Sunday afternoon. Having never been there before, I didn't know what to expect. I found boats everywhere drifting water 50 - 70 feet deep. Personally, I've never fished this deep for jacks, but thought I would join in. I caught one undersized in 3 hours and didn't see another boat catching. After everyone else departed, my partner and I decided to explore a little. We moved upstream to 27 - 33 ft. and immediately started catching. In the next hour we boated 6 nice keepers. It just proves the theory that if all of the conditions are right and you're not catching fish, there's probably no fish under the boat. This is the water depth that I normally look for this time of year. I'll be back after them a couple of days this weekend. I'll be sure to post a report, good or bad. Happy New Year all!
