Kent, I have used a lot of diifferent depth finders over the years. I would agree with Snapperking that Lowrance's are hard to beat. I have two of the Cuda's by Eagle on my aluminum boat and they work great. It's hard to beat their price, especially with a temp. gauge built into the transducer. What I like about the Eagles is that they will read in shallow water(1.5 to 3ft.) where a lot of the more expensive units won't. I haven't been real pleased with Hummingbirds. Garmins have performed well and my fishing buddy thinks they are the best. Bottom Line also makes a good unit, but for the $, I will take Eagle-Lowrance. Some of the big name pros swear by the X47 for shallow water use. Vertical pixels give you a good idea of how good the unit is.
