Had a few hours yesterday to enjoy the 70 degree november weather...thought I'd try my hand a crappie fishing (which I've never done at Gville) after reading so much about it here and in the paper. Sunny and slight breeze from the south, water temp was 61. Fished Spring creek and Signal Point area. Tried the 1/16 oz bass assasin in baby bass and crystal shad colors, around riprap and docks, from 2-12 feet deep. Caught no crappie, but did catch 9 bream amd one 13" skipjack, all of which was a surprise to me. The last 2 bream were nice keepers, off a deeper boathouse, right at dusk. I guess I wasn't fishing deep enough, after reading some of these reports and speaking with a guy at the ramp who said his crappie were 15-20 ft deep. I guess you have to fish vertically at that depth. Had fun catching the bream anyway.
