Saturday and today I tried my luck at various spots around Decatur from the bank.
Saturday morning I caught about 2 dozen with nearly half of those being keepers in the 3/4 pound range. Found them on submerged tree tops which were placed in strategic areas. Nothing under the Hwy31 causeway bridges, the pumps or Hwy 67.
Today (Sunday) I managed 5 keepers from the same tops as above, but my floating basket failed me and I lost 3 of them out the top of the basket. Oh well, I didn't keep any saturday and let the remaining 2 go today.
Caught most of the fish on a white crappie slider on a slow steady retrieve after counting 1000, 2000, 3000, etc... to 14000. A couple were caught using Arkansas shiner bass assassin under a cork about 7 feet deep.
If I had thought the weather was going to be as good today as it ended up being, I would have taken the boat out. TVA didn't pull much, if at all, on Wheeler today so it was rising most of the day. Not usually a good thing for my fishing.
Good luck and good fishin'
