Managed 19 (one was given to me) crappie today on the big G. All were caught on "baby bass" or "crystal shad" bass assassins on 16th jighead. Fished drop-offs on the main river channel which ranged from about 10 to 40 feet deep. The fish hit mostly in the 15-20 foot depth range, but a few were caught deeper and shallower. Threw back about 6 legal, but small crappie.
My average fish was between 3/4 and 1 pound with the biggest between 1.5 and 2 pounds. Didn't have a scale, so I can't be sure on the big one.
The bluegill were hitting so much it was hard to keep them off long enough to find the crappie. Also caught one shellcracker (1/2 pound). Tiny spots were everywhere and I got one that was between 1 and 2 pounds.
Fished from about 6:30am until about 1pm. Fished areas near Browns Creek.
Good luck and good fishin'
