I remember as a boy back in the early 60's going to the rock pile below Wilson dam and seeing those big gar. Back then you had to walk down the railroad tracks or come down a rope off the cliff at the rock pile. We use to catch and sometime land those gar on a blue colored doll jig with a white head. Last spring when I was home in Florence a friend pulled out one of those blue jigs and started casting. Sure enough he hung into one of those 3ft long nose gars. He lost the jig and did not have another. We began to discuss those days when we were boys seeing those gar below the dam. The rock pile sure was a magical place for me back then. I read this forum everyday here in South Carolina and it makes me envious of you guys being at the greatest place in the world to fish. Good luck
