I received an email from a friend that had a picture attached and the email read as follows:
This lake is about 45 miles from Decatur, Alabama. I don't know that I want to go swimming there!
This is an "Alligator Gar" caught on May 3, 2003 in Guntersville Lake.
It has been certified as the 2nd largest Gar ever caught, and an Alabama record.
Earl's fish had a certified weight of 215 pounds with a total length
of 7feet, 11.5 inches and a 40 inch girth. Caught on a small homemade yellow walleye jig.
Can anyone confirm if this is true. I have the picture if anyone would like to see it. I have been fishing wilson and wheeler lakes all my life and never seen anything to compare to this.
