I posted earlier about a gator, too, although I didn't give a location. But now the cat's out of the bag.
I, too, saw a gator at 9:00 p.m. in Flint Creek. Estimate 12 feet or more. This one was in the stump rows right off of the main channel as it passes behind the Refuge Headquarters.
They were pulling the water. I was surprised to see a gator in the first place, but also surprised to see it in open water. Scared the hell out of me, actually. It was about 50' from me when I shined a flashlight on it. First time I ever saw one, period.
I spent my early days wading and fishing Flint. I'll be more cautious, now.
I'd just as soon we let the gators alone.
