Serving the children of the world
Press Release: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 15, 2006
The Kiwanis Club of Huntsville is pleased to announce a fundraising campaign to complete the installation of a safe, artificial turf surface for the Miracle Field to benefit mentally and physically challenged youth in the North Alabama area. Miracle Field is currently a dirt and grass field located at Field #6 in Brahan Spring Park. The current natural field surface is not friendly to wheelchairs and other walking assistance devices used by the players.
Huntsville’s Miracle Field is used by over 100 mentally and physically challenged youth in our area for two seasons of baseball each year. The Miracle League of North Alabama projects that 300 or more disabled players would use the Miracle Field if the new surface were installed. The Miracle League of North Alabama operates the baseball league and the City of Huntsville has provided the field and maintenance services.
The Kiwanis Club of Huntsville has committed $30,000 to the expense of installing a soft rubber playing surface at the Miracle Field, which will provide safe and consistent field conditions for the participants. The Kiwanis Club of Huntsville will match individual and corporate donations dollar for each dollar up to the $30,000 commitment, thereby doubling the donation dollars available for Miracle Field. Special recognition will be given for donors at the $1,000 and $5,000 levels. Tax-deductible donations may be made payable to the Kiwanis Club of Huntsville Foundation, a 501 ( c ) 3 organization.
The Kiwanis Club of Huntsville was established in 1919.
