Toughest Schedules (from toughest to easiest)
Based on a combination of tough non-conference games, and difficult road games in league play.

Tennessee - If the Vols can get through the first nine games, it should be poised for huge things finishing the season with Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and at Kentucky. The only problem is getting though the front nine which includes games at Florida, at Auburn, at Alabama and at Miami.

Arkansas - SEC schedules are always nasty, but the start of the Hog season is downright suicidal. Arkansas plays at Texas, at Alabama, Auburn and Florida in the first six games. One of the other games is against a very decent North Texas team. If that wasn't bad enough, the Hogs close out the season at LSU.

Auburn - Auburn is coming into 2003 with a legitimate shot at the SEC title and maybe more, but the openers against USC and at Georgia Tech will be major tests. It won't be easy with the biggest West showdown taking place at LSU. Traveling to Arkansas is never easy, and the Tigers get Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Georgia from the East.

Florida - The Gators have to go to Miami, but layups against San Jose State and Florida A&M will ease Florida through the first part of the season. Tennessee and Florida State come to Gainesville. There's always the Cocktail Party, while Ron Zook and company has to go to LSU and Arkansas to go along with a rematch against Ole Miss.

South Carolina - The Gamecocks don't get a break playing both Vanderbilt and Kentucky at home meaning they have to go on the road to face Georgia and Tennessee. Florida comes to Columbia. Playing LSU, at Ole Miss and at Arkansas from the West doesn't make life easy.

Alabama - Mike Price kicks off his era with five straight home games. It's not all a cakewalk with Oklahoma coming to town. The Tide doesn't get a break in league play getting Georgia and Tennessee, along with Kentucky, from the East.

Georgia - The Dawg season has ACC road bookends starting off at Clemson and finishing at Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs get three home games, and the Cocktail Party before facing the Yellow Jackets. Road games at LSU and Tennessee will test Mark Richt's road record.

Kentucky - As far as SEC East slates are concerned, this is as light as they come getting Florida and Tennessee at home. From the West, UK has to go to Alabama, but it get Mississippi State and Arkansas coming to Lexington.

Mississippi State - This could be tougher than Bulldog fans think. Oregon comes to Starkville to kickoff the season, and then MSU has to go to Tulane to face, what should be, a tough Green Wave team. The back stretch stinks with four of the final six games coming on the road while getting Alabama and Ole Miss at home.

LSU - The Tigers fatten up early against UL Monroe before going to Tucson to face a below average Arizona team. After facing a Byron Leftwich-less Marshall team, LSU gets a relatively easy SEC schedule (as SEC schedules go) with Georgia, Florida, Auburn and Arkansas all coming to Baton Rouge. The SEC road games are against the apparent 2003 middleweights going to Mississippi State, South Carolina, Alabama and Ole Miss.

Ole Miss - If the Rebels can win a rematch against Texas Tech, they should be 4-0 before facing Florida in the Swamp. After that, Ole Miss gets four straight home games while facing Auburn and Mississippi State on the road.

Vanderbilt - If a team like Vandy is going to have to play teams like Florida and Tennessee, it might as well play them on the road to get those games out of the way. Ole Miss, Auburn and at Mississippi State come from the West. In non-conference play, games against Georgia Tech and at TCU balance out UT Chattanooga and Navy.
