Individual awards in my opinion...

East MVP:  Dusty Bonner, Kentucky.  Florida has good subs at every position.  Tee Martin is very valuable but UT would still win without him I think.  Georgia has just been a disappointment.  I don't think Kentucky would be bowl eligible without this guy.  This makes a UK QB the East MVP for the second year I think.

West MVPs:  Shawn Alexander/Bama OL.  No contest here.  These guys were definitely the most valuable players in the West I think.

Best defense:  Miss St.  UT was close but their meltdown at Arkansas put them second.  Miss St was in every game this year due to a great defense.

Best QB:  Tough choice.  Dusty Bonner, Tee Martin, and Clint Stoerner stand above the rest to me.  Quincy Carter, Romaro Miller, and Doug Johnson are maybe more talented but underachieved this season I think.  I think you have to go with Dusty Bonner again.  The guy is #1 in the SEC in passing average per game, pass efficiency, AND total offense.  I know

about Mumme's system but that still ain't easy...

Best RB:  Again Alexander.  Very interesting fact.  Alexander is the ONLY back in the SEC with 1000 yards this year.  Best of the rest:  Joe Gunn, Jamal Lewis, Jasper Sanks, Deuce McCallister, and Travis Henry.  That is in order of who had the most rushing yards.

Best WR:  Tough tough choice here.  The only guys to go over 1000 yards receiving were Florida's Darrel Jackson, Ronney Daniels of Auburn, and James Whalen at UK.  But then you have to consider the top playmakers at WR in Freddie Millons, Anthony Lucas, Kelvin Love, and Cedrick Wilson.  I think most of these guys are outstanding but the 2 youngest stick out to me in Daniels (freshman) and Millons (sophomore).  Daniels is a big strong guy while Millons is a faster quicker guy.  Millons became the big play WR Bama has been looking for for so long.  However, Alexander was still the focus.  Ronney Daniels went over 1000 yards when he had maybe the worst QB in the SEC quarterbacking Auburn for 5 games.  Daniels absolutely took over several games.  I have to go with him as the best WR in the SEC right

now.

Best OL:  Again, Bama.  There were some outstanding lines this year.  Florida and UT obviously both have pretty good lines.  But Bama's OL stands out as the most dominating unit in the league this year.

SEC Coach of the year:  This is funny.  The first name that pops up is Mike Dubose.  Yes, most people even Bama fans give most of the credit to his staff but hey the top man gets the blame when his staff sucks so he should get the credit when things go right.  However it is funny because...  well a friend of mine said it best:  "this guy sleeps around, lies to his wife, family, employer, players, media, fans, etc, and he gets beat by la tech, and he is going to be the conference coach of the year.  This is surely a sign of the apocalypse."  I can't say it much better than that.  Who else deserves it?  Well you always have to bring up Spurrier and Fulmer but they fall into the trap all great coaches do.  They don't win coach of the year awards because they have so much talent so that when they lose, it always seems like it is the coaches fault.  I still gave it to Fulmer last year.  I think Fulmer did a decent job this year but not great.  Spurrier just seemed to have problems this year, though once again it sure is nice to have these 9-2 "down years".  Florida, while awesomely talented, just never look sharp or polished to me.  I guess the 2 guys that stand out to me with Dubose are Jackie Sherill and Hal Mumme.  However, Sherill was cemented from last year and Mumme was OK also.  After La Tech it was a foregone conclusion that Dubose was gone.  However, his team rallied and one 7 out of their last 8 games and won the SEC West.  I

can't believe I am doing this but I gotta say Mike Dubose is my SEC Coach of the year...

I finished the year picking all SEC games at 63-21 (75%) for the year.
