Below is a copy of a concert that I ran sound for when Bob came to our church, use if you'd like.
Bob Bennett - Friday Feb 28th, 1997
Christian Fellowship Church, Ashburn VA
WOW! If you weren't there - you missed it! 2 hours of Bob. Bob who? Bob Bennett of course (check out the article that CCM Magazine did on Bob back in Nov of 96). The concert was nothing less than fabulous. And that is coming from a die-hard rock roll guy. Bob's style is much like Scott Wesley Brown - acoustic/folk. During the sound check he comes on stage with his Lowman acoustic guitar and his Fishman Blender electronics, plugs in, and what you hear is a wonderful blend of highs and lows. His mastery of alternate tunings (almost all of the songs) brings to mind the sounds of Phil Keaggy's CD Beyond Nature. After the concert you walk away with the feeling that you've just made a close friend. A feeling that during your time there you've been ministered to. His stories will have you crying tears from laughter one minute then tears from the fact that his stories hit home in the deep part of your soul. Stories of his divorce, his deep friendship with his father to stories of how he would sit on classmates in High School who gave him a hard time to how he was the "instant out" when he played baseball. And the story that we all have experienced, asleep in the recliner with the remote control- "hey I was watching that!" Would I go see him again? Absolutely! Without a question. If you want blistering licks and tube distortion - stay home. If you want to walk from the concert having been challenged, changed, touched - get there early.
