Why Do We Believe In God?
There is no scientific proof for the existence of God.  No one has ever seen God.  No one has photographed God.  No one has ever observed God, measured God, or recorded God.  Now, you also can't see the wind, it's invisible.  But we know there is wind because we have evidence of it.  We see it swaying the trees, swirling the leaves, making waves in the water, and feel it blowing our hair.  In like manner, we have evidences that God exists, and it is upon these evidences that our belief in Him is based.  "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  (Hebrews 11:1)  Let's look at some of these evidences.
The Universe
Psalm 19:1 - "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork."
Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
Genesis 1:14-18 - "And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good."

  • The power of creation was not in a "big bang", but in the Word of God.

  •

Psalm 33:6: "By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth"

John 1:1-3 - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."

    Life
Ephesians 2:10 - "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

And God differentiated man from animals by making him a spiritual as well as a physical being:
Genesis 2:7 - And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

And He Gave Man Dominion Over All the Earth:
Genesis 1:28-30 - "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so."
