Famous Disasters
Whether it's hurricanes, earthquakes, fire, flood, shipwrecks, or molasses(?) people are interested in disasters.  Why, because we are amazed at the damage that nature can wreak and we are powerless to stop it. We are also amazed at the destruction we can bring upon ourselves.  We sympathize with the victims and give thanks that it didn't happened to us. Our hearts are warmed by the stories of people helping one another, and by the stories of heroism. I picked links about some disasters which, though famous, are lesser known about because of passage of time.
