In order to provide answers to the most frequently asked questions about Pension Factors and the multiplers used in calculating pensions please look at the new Pension Factor web page. I will continue to add new pages to my site based on issues that are important to members of the Retirement System.

My Goal

Is to continue working for improvements that include protecting the assets and independence of the Retirement System, educating our members, while providing the best benefits possible for all members within the framework of a sound financial system.

I care about each member of our system and their individual situations.

I was able to work successfully towards a number of changes in the Retirement System that took effect between June, 1998 and June, 2002.

I am deeply disturbed that the effect of living longer may result in a slight decrease in the monthly annuity amount.

Yes, I am still working towards improvements.

Yup, I would have preferred to have been instantly successful with all the changes I would like to see.

But, better late than never, and better some than none.

There are 7 votes on the TVA RS board and there are 3 on the TVA board. Any change in the TVA RS liabilities will affect TVA's liabilities and must be approved by the TVA board. Essentially, any change in TVA's liabilities must be approved by the TVA board.

All changes must first go through an actuarial process (to get an estimate of the costs) and a legal process (we can only implement changes that pass all legal requirements) before we know if a particular benefit design change is even possible.

This board has been able to work together to implement changes that have never happened before.

Each board member can make a difference, but all changes need a majority vote and TVA's concurrence.

Re-Election to TVA Retirement System Board

Thank you for your support of my campaign to be re-elected to the TVA Retirement System Board. The new term begins on November 1, 2002 and expires on October 31, 2005. I enjoy the challenge of working to ensure that all employees and retirees have the strongest retirement system possible.
