Class Rules and Procedures
- Rules and policies expressed in the 2009-2010 Code of Student Conduct as well as Austin High School rules will be enforced in the classroom.
- Students will bring the following materials to class each day: textbook, notebook,Austin High School Planner, paper, pencil, and calculator.
- Students are to use the Planner to record daily assignments as well as dates for tests and quizzes.
- On the third tardy to class, the student will be written up and sent to the office.
- All make-up work is to be completed within three days of the student's return to class. If the student has been absent for an extended period of time, special arrangements will be made. It is the student's responsibility to ask for make-up work and arrange for make-up tests.
- Clean up after yourself.
- Show respect for everyone in the classroom.
- Personal needs should be attended to before or after class.
- ALL WORK IN THIS CLASS MUST BE DONE IN PENCIL. WORK DONE IN INK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!!!
- Math class is to be used for math work only. You may work on other subjects only after your math work is completed.
Class Syllabus: IB Precalculus, Precalculus, Algebra I
- Daily work and homework will count 25% of the six-week grade. Math is not a spectator sport! Homework is vital. Assignments are due on time. There will be no credit given for late assignments. If you are absent, check the class calendar, website, or phone a friend. A student with an excused absence has three days in which to make up the work. Unexcused absences earn a grade of "0".
- Tests will count 75% of the six-week grade. Quizzes will be averaged together and count as one test grade.
- Make-up tests will be given before or after school. It is the student's responsibility to arrange a time for the make-up test within two weeks of the absence. A test not made up will be assigned a grade of "0".
- Mathematics is a process. Do not get behind! I am available before and after school. Please let me know in advance if you need help.
- Final exams are comprehensive and count 25% of the semester grade.
Notebook/Homework
All homework and class notes are to be kept in a three-ring binder. It is the student's responsibility to get this notebook as soon as possible and keep it up to date. The notebook must be brought to class each day.
Work must be shown on all homework and test problems. Circle all answers. Include the following information on all homework assignments: Name, date, period, and assignment.
