Class syllabus Algebra 1 and Algebra B 2002-2003

  1. Daily work and homework will count 40% of the six-week grade. Math is not a spectator sport! Homework is vital. Assignments are due on time. There will be no credit given for late assignments. If you are absent, check the class calendar, website, or phone a friend. A student with an excused absence has three days in which to make up the work. Unexcused absences earn a grade of "0".
  2. Tests will count 60% of the six-week grade. Notebook tests will be averaged together and count as one test grade.
  3. Make-up tests will be given before or after school. It is the student's responsibility to arrange a time for the make-up test within two weeks of the absence. A test not made up will be assigned a grade of "0".
  4. Mathematics is a process. Do not get behind! I am available before and after school. Please let me know in advance if you need help.
  5. Final exams are comprehensive and count 25% of the semester grade.

Notebook/Homework

All homework and class notes are to be kept in a three-ring binder. It is the student's responsibility to get this notebook as soon as possible and keep it up to date. The notebook must be brought to class each day. Random unannounced tests will be given on this notebook. NO STUDENT WILL BE EXCUSED TO GO TO HIS/HER LOCKER TO GET THE NOTEBOOK ON TEST DAY!

Work must be shown on all homework and test problems. Circle all answers. Include the following information on all homework assignments: Name, date, period, and set number. You may need to know this information on a notebook test.
