Audio Conversion Service

What is Audio Conversion?
Audio conversion is the process of playing an audio recording in analog format, recording it digitally on a PC, and then burning that digital recording to a CD or DVD. Given that some rare or unique audio sources cannot be readily found in CD format, audio conversion is often the only means to preserve them.

If you have rare recordings, you probably already know the frustration in finding out that it is not available in CD format. I know I have. Many of the LP's and cassettes that I have collected are out-of-print, rare, and never have been released on CD. To date, I've converted about 350 of my old recordings to CD's or MP3's so that I can listen to them again. In many cases, the converted audio actually sounds better than the original.

What do you provide to me?
I will need a copy of the recording provided in a playable format.

What formats can I convert?
Currently I can convert LP's or any vinyl, cassette tapes, and reel-to-reel. Each format can be pitch corrected to a certain extent and digitally processed to enhance the recording.

What do I provide to you?
Your original recording, plus an audio CD-R that you can play just as you do any other CD.

How much does it cost?
I charge a flat fee based on the length of the recording: $25 per 60 minutes of audio. That covers everything including my time, any correction that I have to make to the recording, and the final media that you receive. Any shipping needed would be calculated based on rates set by the US postal service.

Feedback about Audio Conversion:

Jeffrey Bean - Tuscaloosa, Alabama
I can't recommend Bill Jehle's audio conversion service enough. Recently, I was in a pinch: a cassette tape of mine, which contained an important lecture I needed to access to plan my college English class, was ruined (or so I thought) when the tape snapped and got tangled up in the cassette. Because there were no visible screws on the cassette, I thought that it couldn't be fixed. That's when I heard about Bill's service. Not only was he able to fix my cassette tape (he opened the cassette, expertly spliced the tape, and repaired the cassette so it was like new), he also put the recording on CD for me--and the sound quality of the CD is better than the original! What's more, he was lighting fast--I mailed my tape to him and had the new CD and repaired cassette back in my hands two days later, in plenty of time to plan my class. Bill completed the job with skill, speed, professionalism--even passion (he truly ENJOYED fixing the tape). Thanks, Bill Jehle--you're a life saver!

You saved my butt so many times over the past few months... I would have had days upon days of stress had I not found you to fix all those broken tapes for me.
