Dear Aris, Syalom:

On May 25 to May 29, 2005, our church - New Beginning Church of Singapore, the church for Indonesians that are in Singapore conducted a mission trip to Waingapu.

We held a seminar for the Lordís servants and the students of Theology School in Waingapu. There was an ENT physician from Mt. Elizabeth and a dentist from National Dental Center in our group. There were also 3 nurses from various health care systems in Singapore. We provided free mass treatments and the ENT performed a few surgeries for people with thyroid problems (Hyper Thyroid). These surgeries were conducted in Distric Public Hospital (RSUD) in Waingapu by the compliment of the hospital to let us use their operation room. We were also assisted by the Assistant Staff of the Operation Room as well as Dr. Made. We really appreciated the help of Madam Director of RSUD Waingapu. Five people were successfully operated within 1 and ľ days. Two people could not be operated since we ran out of time. All the fees were paid by the doctors from Singapore, including the post operation fees.

One of the patients that came to GBI Matawai Church on Friday was Lukas, shown in the attached photos. He came with his parents and the pastor from his town. We donít know where he lives, but it must be far away. Dr. Goh, the ENT told us that there was nothing that could be done in Waingapu since further testing was needed. If they could get the MRI (from Surabaya), he was willing to discuss this problem with his colleagues in Singapore. Certainly more than 1 doctor is needed, since this would be a very dangerous surgery. Judging from the size of the tumor, more than 50% of the blood is in the tumor, hence the risk to die is very high.

The biggest constraint beside medical is of course the financial. Dr. Goh has promised the lowest operation fee, but the treatment fees are beyond his ability. We discussed operating in the less expensive government hospital, but itís still high for our standard.

Based on these concerns, we asked them to go home. The next day, they came again. This really affected us, showing how seriously were they looking for help to treat this disease. This time Lukas came with his uncle. Thatís why we were moved to look for some funds both in Singapore and Indonesia to help this child.

We hope you can also participate in this project.

God Bless.
Dr. Maria Tan.

Shallom Pak Aris,

Pada tanggal 25/5 sampai 29/5'05, gereja kami New Beginning Church,

Keesokan
harinya, mereka datang lagi, yang membebani hati kami, betapa seriusnya
mereka mencari bantuan pengobatan.

Tuhan memberkai.

Salam,
Drg. Maria Tan.
