Peter Grant lives and works in Huntsville, AL.  He is the former President of the Huntsville Art League for 2005-2006.  Born in St. Petersburg, FL, he grew up in Greenville, SC in the midst of an artistic family.  His brother was a noted architect, and his son and daughter are both working in the fine arts.  Peter took all the art classes he could while obtaining his degree from Clemson University.   A 20-year military career after college put his painting on hold, but allowed him to visit and explore art around the world.  During this time, he delved into photography. From this period, he has a portfolio of beautiful photos capturing scenes and people from many countries.  Following retirement, he has started painting again. Although his specialty is Abstract Expressionism he enjoys bringing some reality to his work with equestrian scenes.  He paints many other subjects including bears, sailboats, and landscapes.  He is an avid horseman and sailor, and can frequently be found during his free time riding his horse "Echo" or sailing on Lake Guntersville in his boat, "Southern Star."
