'Old LAYTON Homestead'

This photograph is of the 'Old LAYTON Homestead' built by Thomas Foster Layton shortly after the civil war.  The 'LAYTON Mansion' as it was also called was built on the 160 acres acquired by Thomas in Taney County, Missouri.  The home was modeled in the old Colonial fashion of the Virginia plantations from Thomas' birthplace.

The structure no longer graces the skyline of Taney county.  A modern Layton home now stands in the same place.

The time period of the photograph above is unknown.  I believe the photograph was taken in the early 1900's.  If you look closely you will notice a rain gutter has been applied to the home.  I have not been able to historical place the time period when rain gutters became available.  Anyone know this tidbit of the building industry?

I also do not know the names of the individuals in the photograph.  They are all Layton's or families related to the LAYTON clan by marriage.  If you know anyone in the photograph I would appreciate an e-mail with that information.
