Submission Guidelines

BEFORE SUBMITTING ANYTHING TO THIS SITE, READ THE SECURITY NOTICE FIRST!!!!

Be sure that you have copyright permission to any material that you submit.  You will retain copyright to anything that you submit that you created.  Please see the accompanying Disclaimers before making any submission to this site.

Also, be sure not to send any material of a proprietary nature.

I want to ensure anyone who wishes to submit content for this site that I will respect your privacy.  I will not distribute any information to anyone without your consent.  I do, however, require that your name and e-mail address be published on the site with your work so that the work will be attributed to you and only you.   I will not consider posting anything that does not include your full name and e-mail address.   In return, you get a place to point others to in order to show off your work.

I especially want to know of any resources that would be of specific interest to defense or government software contractors whether they are analysts, managers, engineers, developers, test personnel, safety analysts or quality control.

What I'm Looking For...

  • Military, Federal, IEEE, ANSI, ISO Standards of particular use to defense software projects -- any subject.
  • And reference material for good software development practices, procedures, etc.
  • Methodologies.
  • Algorithms of use in defense applications (Please! No classified information and no company proprietary information!).
  • Sites of interest in procuring business with the DoD (any branch).
  • Management references.
  • Metrics collection and use including software measurement tools.
  • Modeling and simulation resources.
  • Munitions background and overview information for new personnel training.
  • Air Defense Systems background and overview information for new personnel training.
  • Aircraft combat tactics
  • Any code that may be of particular use to defense software developers.  Here I'm not looking for general purpose code such as how to implement a dialog box in MFC.  I am looking for specific algorithms, user-interface controls, etc that would have special application to a defense software project.  For example, I have developed controls to display/enter different types of map coordinates.
  • Requirements definition, analysis, tracing and management.
  • Any location for obtaining development or configuration management software that would be of use to a defense software development project.
  • References for safety and hazard analysis
  • Your past experiences on a defense software project.  If your project encountered any problems I want to know about them and how they were overcome!  This will help us all learn from past experiences so that we can stop making the same mistakes over and over.

Whether it is a link to a useful site or original material that you have created, I would be interested in considering it for inclusion on this site.

At this time, I am not particularly interested in general programming sites because I believe that I have a good selection already referenced within The Contractor's Outpost.  However, I will entertain any that are particularly exceptional.

A SPECIAL NOTE:  I very much want any type of information that can be used to train new contract personnel on military hardware (weapons, munitions, and weapon systems), doctrine and terminology.  Such resources are difficult to obtain for the average software development company.  We need to work to build this experience base up to support the defense industry and to ensure that our nation has the resources to defend itself now and in the future.  To see what is currently available on this topic at The Contractor's Outpost, refer to Weapons 101.

All material must be submitting in plain ASCII text.  If you have illustrations to include, you should supply this as GIF or JPG formats and include a comment such as the following example in the text:

<<<< INSERT FIRGURE1.GIF HERE >>>>

All submissions should ideally be two pages or less as the space I am granted on the server is limited.  I plan to archive the better material and make it available in zip files as time progresses.

I depend on the readers to help make this site useful.  Do not hesitate to submit something to be considered for inclusion on this site.

Thank you.
