Decide, mother, who goes without.
Is it Rama, the strongest,
or Baca, the weakest,
who may not need it much longer,
or perhaps Sita?
Who may be expendable?
Decide, mother;
kill a part of yourself
as you resolve the dilemma.

John Frary is also a friend and fellow poet:

boldly
and wholy upright on top of the southern horizon, the
mighty warrior
Orion slowly retreats, then cowers shamefully behind Yokia
Mountain, as the
brilliant moon rises in the northeast. Then Sirius -- the
brightest ( yet
inferior) star, shimmers diamond blue, red and green for a
brief moment at
the very top of the world, and then feebly dissipates into a
faintly glowing
ember.
