OLD SLEDGE
This is an amazing fiddle tune. The liner notes say that this
was Ed's favorite, and it is a real good example of a case where the notation
cannot come close to conveying the effect of the live performance.
He plays it blazingly fast, and the overall effect, on me, at least, is
almost like being suspended in time. There is no real melody to speak
of, just driving rhythm. I think the fiddle is tuned to ADAD on this
one. This is another of the tunes that he plays without any backup.
