The church of our Lord In the Hatton community
had its beginning when several families of the Landersville and Town Creek
churches of Christ residing in the Hatton area began meeting in the home
of Will Morgan and other homes in the community. The first meeting
house was built in 1916 from timber donated by George W. Thompson, Wes
Smith, Will Morgan and others. The property for the building
was purchased from Ben F. Hagood. Blocks of wood was used for seating
until furniture was made. Due to the growth of the early congregation,
A second building was erected in July of 1950 with Winfred Thompson taking
the lead in the construction. In 1961, an addition consisting of restrooms,
classrooms, and a foyer with a porch was built. In 1968-69 a third
building was built on the old school house property of five acres purchased
from the School Board. To the present facilities additional classrooms
have been built. A minister's home adjacent to the building was purchased
from R.M. Landers in 1967.
