Welcome to my Nipsy page - "Nipsy" was my
first
"birdy love", a pearl-pied cockatiel. This whole webpage is a
tribute to my precious Nipsy
who now resides at Rainbow Bridge. This little feathered darlin'
literally changed my life.
I have been a bird
lover for several years now, thanks to my daughter, Kristy. If
not
for her, I would have never discovered how wonderful these feathered
creatures are! I'd never even really liked birds, to be honest. But
after many months of her persistent nagging for a bird, I finally caved
and bought her "Honey" and "Wally", a pair of cockatiels. Honey
and Wally weren't that
tame, and she wanted more of a "hands-on" bird. So off Mom goes
to
the pet store and brings home "Nipsy"..... My life has never been
the same. Nipsy took right to me, but would have nothing to do with
anyone else. So, I kept him for myself and had to buy yet another bird
for Kristy..... It took only a matter of minutes for me to fall in love
with Nipsy. He had such a personality and loved to be on my shoulder
preening my hair. I will always miss my Nipper. There has never been
and will never be another like him. When I'd walk in the room I'd say
"Hey Nipper!" and before long he would say "Hey Nipper! Hey Nipper! Hey
Nipper!" over and over again at the top of his little birdy lungs. I
thought it was precious! But the family didn't share my opinion......
SweeTiels was
the
name of my aviary, formerly located at my home in Boaz,
Alabama . I started raising cockatiels in 1997 and did so for
about 4 years.
I would raise and sell them to individuals as pets although there was
NO MONEY in this! I simply enjoyed it. There's nothing
sweeter than a warm and fuzzy, hand-fed baby bird!
My real name is Denise. I used to raise cockatiels as a
hobby, but a full-time job took care of that and I sold all of my
breeder birds. I have
only two birds now, a Blue Front Amazon named "Tuffie" and a
mockingbird named "Popcorn". Popcorn was a rescue. He fell from a nest
and I raised him from the time he was about a week old. He's about a
year old now. MEAN as a little snake but so, so cute!
I'm married and live on a Arabian horse farm known as Sand
Mountain Arabians. My girls, husband and I barrel race (Yes,
on
ARABIANS...... see our
accomplishments!)
I migrated from Palmyra, Missouri, to Boaz,
Alabama, in 1990, but you can read more about me later, as my
birdys, horses
and family are the reasons I created these pages *S*
