This
is our beloved Kover Song. He is a gelding now and has become
quite the
barrel racer/pole bender - he qualified for the 2004 AND 2005 NBHA World Shows!! (The picture above was
taken at the 2003 World - I qualified on my little Arab gelding but
elected to ride Kover instead). Kover is the daddy of the beautiful
"SMA Kover Paige" (deceased-colic) and "SMA Koverin'
Three ("Tres"). As a three year old, Tres is just as gorgeous as his
Daddy (and has the
exact same mischievous personality as his Daddy.....), he is currently
under saddle and is my next
barrel horse prospect.
Kover loves attention - he demands it. It's as if he thinks he's human.
And quite honestly, he's much more intelligent than many, many human
beings I've come into contact with in my life...... You would have to
spend some time around him to know what I'm saying but trust me when I
say he is super intelligent. Too intelligent for his own good. The
horse has reasoning skills. Really.

Kover Song
shortly after he came to live with us as a 3 year old.
Our (Stanley's) Kover Song NOW - The
can chasin', pole bendin' Kover Song.
The old man has greyed out a
little in his old age (Kover too *smile*). Kover loves running barrels
and poles. He's mellowed out somewhat in his old age (he's 9 now).
While he's not as overly rambunctious as he once was as a young
stallion, he's still incredibly mischievous and will reach out and
steal whatever article of clothing not securely fastened to your person
if you get close enough to him..... Trying to clean his stall with him
in it is not an option. You can hang that up. Ain't happenin'. He's
GOING to help you by either trying to steal your hat or shirt, picking
at you (he doesn't bite, he'll just take ahold of your shirt or hat or
whatever and just hold it in his teeth while you fuss at him to turn it
loose - and he will turn it loose, in HIS own time....:), licking you
or whatever else he finds necessary to amuse himself (and you) at the
time.
Kover Song is fearless. What all of our other horses fear,
Kover tries to play with. Or destroy. Or eat. He plain and simply has
NO fear. Period. I've never known another horse like him, or even
close. He's more human-like than equine. Which makes him a royal pain
in the butt at times. I won't share with you the many nicknames I have
for him at times..... He's like trying to deal with a stubborn pre-teen
at times. But we do him like we do our kids - correct him when
necessary, praise him when he does right, show him love and accept him
for who he is. He's a very happy horse.
Roxanne, I wish you could see him now.....
