Equipment You Will Need
When starting an aquarium it is important to have the right equipment. Without it you could have some major problems and some unusual occurrances in your tank. There is the basic equipment (Which is always needed), the special equipment (Which is something that your tank needs because of a special condition), and there are the bells and whistles that you really don't need.
When starting a tank it is important to just get the basic equipment. You can get the bells and whistles later if you think you need them. Below is a list of equipment that you will need for most freshwater tanks.
- Tank
- Gravel
- Filter
- Air Pump
- You may wish to have air valves too if you have multiple aereators in the tank.
- Undergravel Filter (Usually comes with the tank)
- Aereator (Something that lets the air out in the tank like a bubble curtain)
- Heater
- Tank Hood (The thing on top of the tank with the light, Flourescent light bulb is reccommended)
- Thermometer
All of those materials are essentials to haveing a freshwater aquarium. You should be able to purchase all of them at your local aquarium dealer. If you wish you can order them at Albert Thiel's web site
