Starting Your Search Engines

1.  What is the URL of the home page for the Site which contains this course?  _________________     
What is the URL for this page?___________________

2. Point your Browser to the start page (home page) for this site. Edit the address box such that it contains one of the following URLs. 
For Academy Students use (http://www.deanchri.org/acd/acd.htm)  or for 
Senior Center students use (http://home.hiwaay.net/~clc1/old/). 
Then scroll down and locate the link to the proper site where your class picture will be found. Watch this site for future pictures.  What is the URL of the page where your class photo will be found?

3. Point your Browser to a commercial search engine... www.yahoo.com ; Scroll down and use the hyperlinks to visit a computer in some US city, maybe the place of your birth. What is this computer's name and the URL used to access it?

4. Use another search engine... www.altavista.com to find a stock quote... If you don't know a stock symbol try "Alcoa". What stock did you check and what is it's current selling price?

5. Use one of the search engines to use the "KEY WORDS" feature to find a picture of a shark. Put the key word "shark" in the search box and then click on the search button. How many URL references did you receive from the search? What is the URL which finally provided a picture of a shark?
