This task is merely to experiment with the construction of a greeting card. The learning objectives are:
1. Acquaint yourself with graphics inserted into documents.
2. Learn to position page margins in documents.
3. Get familiar with making multiple passes of a single sheet of paper through your printer.
4. This exercise will provide you with considerable experience. The time required will depend on your background and familiarly with your word processing software. It takes a little patience.
Most Import - Have Fun
For MS Works 4.5 the following margin settings work for making a card as shown in the example. This is for 8.5 x 11" paper and printing in the portrait mode. The settings are as follows:
Top margin 5.7", bottom margin
0.66", header 3.76", footer .66".
For the A & C sides the left margin is 4.45" and the
right is .3".
For the B & D sides the left margin is .3" and the right
is 4.45".
Each side of the card can be saved as a separate file if desired.
The same sheet of paper is passed through the printer for each
side.
A & D are fed one way while the B & C sides are rotated
180 degrees.
These settings were found by trial and error. If you experiment you can find other settings for different size paper and other word processing applications.
Below is an example of a card made
using MS Works.
Notice it contains both clip art and a picture.
