Our 2008 Trip to Alaska

I (Ben) visited Alaska in 1992, spending most of my time camping in Denali National Park and rafting the Talkeetna River. For some time, I've wanted to return to Alaska and share the beauty of the state with my family. We felt like the kids are finally old enough to enjoy it, and to experience a bit of adventure (Noah is 8, and Julianna is 10). I had originally planned a more aggressive itinerary, to include the Denali Highway and Valdez. Tina was afraid this might be too much driving time for the kids, and some on-line friends agreed. We scaled back the plans to limit the time on the road and to include some free time for relaxing and whatever the kids wanted to do.

Here's a day-by-day report of our trip:

Day 1 – Travel to Anchorage
Day 2 – Anchorage to Talkeetna
Day 3 – Talkeetna
Day 4 – Talkeetna to Denali National Park
