HURRICANE MICHELLE
BRUSHES
THE CAYMAN ISLANDS
NOVEMBER 3 - NOVEMBER 4, 2001

On the following pages, these are some pictures I took before, during, and after  the wave damage by Hurricane Michelle. All the damage in the pictures was done ON THE SOUTH AND WEST SIDES OF THE ISLAND by huge waves, not wind. The waves rolled in on the island on Sunday morning as Hurricane Michelle was rounding the West side of the Cayman Islands some 150 miles out. It was hard to believe that just the night before (Saturday), I was having the time of my life watching the waves roll in before the "Big Ones" hit on Sunday morning.

Most all the pictures were taken on Saturday through Monday
11/03/2001 - 11/05/2001

PLEASE NOTE:
EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS MUCH DAMAGE TO THE STORES ON CHURCH STREET IN GEORGETOWN, THE CITY WAS CLEANED UP AND STORES WERE RE-OPENING BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON (TWO DAYS AFTER THE BIG WAVES). THE CLEAN UP EFFORT WAS AMAZING AS TO HOW FAST THE CITY WAS BROUGHT BACK TO NORMAL

THE SEAVIEW BAR WAS OPEN TUESDAY NIGHT AFTER THE STORM, BUT DUE TO THE DAMAGE AT SUNSET HOUSE ("MY BAR") THE BAR IS BEING COMPLETELY RE-BUILT AND IT  OPENED IN JULY, 2002 .

THE BLUE PARROT BAR WILL NOT BE RE-BUILT AS OF NOW, CAYMAN TURTLE FARM IS BEING MOVED ACROSS THE STREET, AND OTHER AREAS BUSINESSES HAVE BEEN REPAIRED.

I HAVE DIVIDED THE HURRICANE MICHELLE PICTURES INTO THREE SECTIONS WHICH ARE BELOW AND YOU CAN LINK TO EACH SECTION.
