The Minx
(April 26, 1990 )

This mare is a mare of great infamy, and I have accounts from fellow horse boarders to back it up. Minx is incredibly special to me. Endowed with far more than her share of personality, Minx is one of those horses that requires a lot of work and understanding. She is reactive, explosive, unpredictable and downright dangerous. So many people have warned me she'd hurt me one day. Thankfully, that day hasn't arrived. In my struggles to understand and work with this strange horse, she became deeply embedded in my heart, right from the first when she leaped off the shavings of the stall of her birth and kicked my husband in the butt. Small wonder he came up with her Jockey Club name not long after that. "Dangers Best Frend."

Sometimes I think people should be more careful about what they name their horses. In Minx's case she lived up to her both her names and then some. As this web site nears full development, I will flesh out all the stories of the horses I've owned and loved, especially this one.

More of Minx's story coming soon.
