Transcribed from the official microfilm, this volume contains an easy to read version of the two Alabama State Censuses: one taken a few years before the Civil War, and the other immediately after the Civil War. Studied together, these two censuses can help identify soldiers who died during the war, or survived to return their home in Blount County.

Names were compared against later census and probate records and brought to contemporary spellings.
