31 May 2003 - Today I started disassembly of the driveshaft. The photo shows the assembled driveshaft.

The photo below shows the disassembled shaft complete with leather seal. I am cleaning the parts in preparation for painting. Vech mentioned an upgrade from the leather seal. I am going to call him and find out the detail.

The photo's below show the rear driveshaft cover with the grime removed and sandblasted. There are some part numbers cast into the cover

I sandblasted the parts and painted them flat black. Things look much nicer now

6 June 2003 - I spoke with Vech at Bench Mark Works, they have a modern seal upgrade for the leather oil seal on the drive shaft. With the upgrade you do not need the oil splash shield or the outer cover that the four screws secure to the rear driveshaft housing. However, you can still use the cover so it is cosmetically correct. I have ordered the seal upgrade and will post photo's of the installation.

11 June 2003 - The photo shows the original seal parts to the left (splash guard, spring, leather seal). To the right is the replacement seal (discard the original parts). Installing the seal was a little tough. The seal is double lipped and fits snug into the aluminum housing (it took a little work)

12 June 2003 - Today I assembled the driveshaft. This is complete waiting for the rest of the bike.
